Aztec Architecture
The Aztecs built some of the most beautiful found in South America. The Aztec people had a variety of architectural styles. They built everything from regular homes to palaces and great pyramids. There was no one type of temple that was built in the Aztec Empire. In the city of Caliztlahuaca, the temple was built in a circular pattern. This city was also known for its private homes, all houses had constructed wall foundations of cut stones. Aztec architecture is related to older Mesoamerican architecture. Their houses and religious structures were unique, however. Aztec cities often competed to construct the greatest temples in the Aztec empire. While doing so, Instead of demolishing an old temple and building a new one at the site, they simply built over the old structure
